Ankle & Foot
Pain in the ankles and heels can come from joints themselves, or muscles and tendons around the joints. Osteoarthritis isn’t very common in the ankle but can be the result of previous damage from an injury or inflammatory arthritis.
Ankle pain is often due to an ankle sprain but can also be caused by ankle instability, arthritis, gout, tendonitis, fracture, nerve compression (tarsal tunnel syndrome), infection, and poor structural alignment of the leg or foot.
Ankle pain refers to any type of pain or discomfort in your ankles. This pain could be caused by an injury, like a sprain, or by a medical condition, such as arthritis.
